Meet Joanne – Commercial Client Broker

At Spencer Hayes Group, we believe our people are what set us apart, and we’re delighted to introduce Joanne, one of our experienced Commercial Client Brokers.

Joanne has dedicated her entire career to the insurance industry, having started at just 16 years old as an Insurance Clerk after spending a year working as an Office Junior in a solicitors’ office. She left high school at 15 and, determined to build a career for herself, attended night school while working full-time, successfully passing her Insurance Proficiency Exam at the age of 18.

Remarkably, insurance is the only career Joanne has ever known.

Although she didn’t set out to work in insurance, she says applying for that first role completely changed her future.

“I didn’t choose insurance – I simply applied for a job. I’ve never looked back. Insurance is a bit like Marmite; you either love it or you hate it. Thankfully, it just fits with me, and I absolutely love what I do.” With decades of experience behind her, Joanne enjoys building long-lasting relationships with clients and helping businesses find the right insurance solutions to protect what matters most. She prides herself on providing honest advice, excellent customer service and making insurance straightforward for every client.

Outside of work, Joanne lives in Colne with her son, daughter and three much-loved cats, Penny, Peanut and Betty (who is often called “Kitten”).

When she’s not working, you’ll usually find Joanne listening to music, enjoying a good book, catching up with friends, spending quality time with her children or getting out for a walk.

Joanne also loves travelling. She’s enjoyed holidays in Scarborough, Turkey and Spain, and still has plenty of destinations on her bucket list, including Santorini, Sicily, Tuscany, the Maldives, Bali, Croatia and Austwick.
